Seward County Board approves claims, utility permits and lists May 26 agendas

The Seward County Board of Commissioners approved routine minutes and financial claims and signed off on a consent agenda that included fee reports, surplus-property requests and utility permits for Windstream Nebraska and Spectrum on May 19.
Commissioner Raegan Hain reported the county received a $1,253.47 opioid settlement payment and said the county had received an award letter from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development tied to a $1 million appropriation for the 420th Road paving project. She also told the board Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway had closed roads and created detours that affected some bus routes and said the Road Department and schools had not been notified of those closures.
The board entered executive session at 9:49 a.m. to receive legal counsel on a personnel matter and returned to open session at 10:47 a.m.; the chair said personnel was discussed and no decisions were made.
The board announced known items for upcoming meetings including a Board of Equalization meeting at 8:30 a.m. on May 26 and a Board of Commissioners meeting at 9:00 a.m. on May 26 with agenda items including two appointments to the Veterans Service Committee.
The meeting adjourned at 11:09 a.m.
