School board adopts 2026–2031 strategic plan and reviews summer programs, ESY and feeding plans

The Fairfield County School District Board voted May 19 to adopt the district strategic plan for 2026–2031 and the accompanying school renewal plans for five elementary schools, one middle school, one high school and one career center.
During the curriculum presentation the presenter described the required components of the district and school plans and cited the statutory and regulatory authorities that guide plan development: the early childhood development and academic assistance act of 1993, the Education Accountability Act of 1998 and State Board of Education Regulation 43 2 61. Miss Harrison Williams moved to accept the superintendent’s recommendation to approve the strategic plan; Pastor Jack seconded and the board approved by a show of hands.
The curriculum presentation also listed summer academic and enrichment programs available to students, including program sites, targeted grade levels, projected participant counts and whether transportation would be provided. Presenters said all students enrolled in summer school sessions will be fed during those sessions. Presenters noted that ESY (Extended School Year) services are included in the summer offerings; at the high school the program will operate as recovery-only rather than traditional summer school. The district said summer feeding sites beyond the summer-school locations had not yet been finalized.
Separately, the superintendent announced district administrative summer work hours for 2026: Monday–Thursday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., effective June 1 through July 17; offices will be closed on Fridays.
