Marblehead School Committee approves Brown and Glover school improvement plans and district improvement plan

Mary said the school will inventory preschool materials to inform district‑level preschool development and will continue PLC work and data‑driven instruction.
A Glover School representative described goals to expand enrichment and grade‑level collaboration, increase assessment and data collection to identify gaps, and build staff relationship and leadership opportunities to support student voice and school culture.
Superintendent John then presented a district improvement plan that he described as a three‑year, “living” framework aligned with DESE guidance and district priorities; the DIP clarifies Year 1 action items and an intended quarterly check‑in cadence for progress. John said the DIP is intended to be iterative and serve as a tool for accountability and alignment across buildings.
Committee members asked about timelines and how progress will be reported; John proposed a first check‑in before the holiday break and quarterly reports thereafter. Motions to approve the Brown School plan, the Glover School plan and the district improvement plan were made and all three motions passed 4–0.
Why this matters: The SIPs and DIP outline measurable goals — including preschool alignment, assessment practices and SEL supports — that will guide curriculum, staffing and program priorities across the district over the coming years.
