Mount Pleasant — The City Council unanimously approved change order number 4 for KSA and Drake General Contractors LLC, granting an additional 150 days to complete work at the Southside wastewater treatment plant without increasing the contract price.
Utilities Director Marshall told the council the change order consolidates two time extensions (a 60-day period already granted and a new 150-day extension) to account for weather delays, manufacturing lead times and equipment commissioning requirements. Marshall said the added time is intended to ensure proper commissioning by manufacturers and to avoid recurring operational problems.
"This does not change any dollar amount on the contract," Marshall said, noting the extension moves the anticipated completion to roughly the end of August.
Councilmember 16 asked whether the contractor and equipment manufacturers had committed to schedules so the project would not continue to be pushed back; Marshall said the team had discussed commission timelines and anticipated the additional time would be sufficient.
A motion to approve change order #4 passed unanimously.
City staff will continue overseeing schedule coordination and will return to council if further changes are necessary.
