The Village of Roscoe committee approved a special event permit for the annual Chicory Ridge Garage Sale on June 5–6, with hours set for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.
"Fridays are definitely more busy for sales, so people are more profitable during their sales," said Melissa, a member of the garage‑sale committee, who explained why the organizers prefer a Friday–Saturday schedule and noted concerns about possible bridge work that weekend.
Staff provided estimated costs for village services: without a bridge closure, police and public‑works costs for the event were estimated at about $2,113 for the three‑day staffing model discussed; if a bridge closure requires extra coverage, staff estimated the cost would rise to approximately $3,522. Committee members discussed options including shortening hours on one day to reduce staffing demands and agreed on Friday and Saturday as the primary days.
Trustees moved and seconded the permit; roll‑call responses recorded in the meeting transcript were affirmative and the permit passed. Staff will coordinate final logistics with the garage‑sale committee and confirm any bridge‑work scheduling before the event.
