Bluff reviews BRICC bids and confirms new building inspector start date

Council opened a $204,050 sealed bid for BRICC fire-suppression work, reviewed window and selective-demolition quotes for the BRICC project, and staff announced a new building inspector will start May 8 as Blanding City assists during transition.
At the May 5 meeting Malia Collins opened and read details of sealed and solicited bids and quotes related to the Bluff Rural Innovation Civic Center (BRICC) project and related town facilities.
One sealed bid for BRICC fire suppression from System Service Specialist Inc. totaled $204,050, with line items for design ($89,250), fire alarm ($58,500), underground work ($54,750) and smaller items. Collins said she will confirm bid completeness and meet with the Design Review Committee prior to the upcoming DRC meeting.
Collins also read three window-replacement quotes (Utah Window Experts $12,984.03; TWS Construction $37,700; Clarity Glass LLC $36,500) and three selective-demolition bids for BRICC (DRL Enterprises $79,250; Pueblo Tierra Construction $119,800; TWS Construction Inc $145,800). Staff said they will review quotes with the DRC ahead of final recommendations.
Separately, Erin Nelson reported Blanding City will temporarily assist with building inspections under an interlocal agreement and announced that Ben Tomko has accepted the building-inspector position and is expected to start May 8; Tomko still needs a 40-hour building-officials class and inspections will be scheduled rather than done on short notice. Kristen Bushnell will continue as permit technician. Collins noted a BRICC special meeting on May 7 and an additional special meeting May 12 to finalize roads manifest items and meet with landowners.
Council also briefly discussed a nonprofit request for reimbursement of feral-horse roundup costs from Hozho Horse Haven; council suggested billing the expense to a nuisance or enforcement budget line and voiced no objection to moving forward.
