Bluff council awards BRICC fire-suppression contract to System Service Specialists

The Bluff Town Council voted May 7 to accept a $204,050 bid from System Service Specialists Inc. to install a fire-suppression system at the Bluff Rural Innovation Civic Center (BRICC), town staff said.
Town staff member Malia Collins told the council the submitted bid matched the RFP requirements and scored highest on the evaluation criteria. Collins said the bidder initially listed bonding as N/A on its bid overview form but has since stated it can obtain performance and payment bonds and will provide updated cost information. The town had budgeted $217,471 for the project, and Collins said the final cost could reach that figure after bonding and any additional work engineers identify.
Mayor Josh Ewing called for a vote to accept the System Service Specialists bid contingent on confirmed bonding and no red flags from engineering. Councilmembers Gary Haws, Britt Hornsby, Spencer Wade, Jennifer Davila and Ewing voted in favor and the motion carried.
Council directed staff to confirm bonding documentation and to proceed only if engineers approve the bid package. Collins will follow up with updated cost documentation when the bonding information is submitted.
The award is intended to move the BRICC construction forward; the contract remains contingent on required bonds and a satisfactory engineer review. The council did not receive or record public comment on this item at the meeting.
