Architect updates Madison County commissioners on courthouse rehabilitation, preservation review

Pat Jacobs of Architecture Trio updated the Madison County Commissioners on Jan. 5 about the courthouse rehabilitation and addition project, saying she is coordinating IT meetings, preparing a cost estimator and initiating approval with the Virginia City Preservation Review Committee.
Jacobs asked the board to be mindful of last‑minute items that need approval and to review material samples when distributed. Commissioner William A. Todd said he is awaiting information about hazardous materials testing and prefers to move cautiously by using a formal bidding procedure for any remediation work. The mayor of Virginia City is overseeing relocation of a white shed related to the project.
Jacobs said she will send the commissioners a copy of the cost estimator and is working with the State IT representative on project technology needs. No formal vote or action was taken at the work session; the project remains in the planning and approvals phase.
