On Monday, May 18, the Onslow County Board of Commissioners approved a final offer on property at 120 Frost Lane in White Oak, granted a fireworks permit for the 2026 Coastal Carolina Cookout and Concert in Sneads Ferry and appointed three people to the remaining seats on the Bridal Services Advisory Board.
The meeting opened with two proclamations read into the record: one recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month and a second for Foster Care Month. The Sons of the American Revolution presented awards to Lieutenant James Seifert of the Onslow County Sheriff's Office and Battalion Chief Amanda Hurrell of Onslow County EMS in recognition of outstanding public service.
On land-use business, commissioners voted to accept a final offer on a parcel at 120 Frost Lane in White Oak, formally authorizing the transaction at the meeting. Later, the board approved a fireworks permit to allow fireworks at the Coastal Carolina Cookout and Concert scheduled for 2026 in Sneads Ferry.
The board also filled the three remaining seats on the Bridal Services Advisory Board and assigned appointees to serve; the transcript does not record the individual appointees' names. The action was recorded as a vote by the commissioners.
After the meeting adjourned, Chairman Tim Foster personally thanked students from Southwest High School who had addressed the board during the public-comment period about safety conditions on Highway 53.
