Jason Stewart spoke in opposition, saying he did not support rezoning multiple properties and asked what uses intended to generate tax revenue. Vice Chair Byron Horner and other commissioners said the parcel is bordered by properties already zoned commercial and that the request aligns with the town's General Plan. The applicant's owner indicated no current plan to request rezoning of adjoining parcels.
Commissioner Byron Horner moved to recommend approval of the rezone; Commissioner T.J. McGeean seconded. The motion passed 3'–2 with Horner and Tim Jones and McGeean voting yes and Heber Taylor and Pam Skinner voting no. The recommendation will be forwarded to the Town Council for final action.
