Cutler Bay honors youth soccer teams and proclaims National Public Works Week

The Town of Cutler Bay council used part of its May 20 meeting to recognize local youth soccer achievements and to proclaim National Public Works Week.
Vice mayor announced recognitions for Albion SC Miami teams, noting the Girls 12 Academy won the Florida Presidents Cup and another girls team won the South Florida Premier League championship. The vice mayor read acknowledgments for coaches — including Doug Sanchez, Dominic Brown, Diego Serrano and Patrick Munoz — and invited teams forward for photographs and brief remarks.
Coach Felipe Ramirez thanked council, staff and parents for supporting the undefeated U‑10 girls team and presented individual recognitions to players by name.
Later in the meeting, Vice mayor read a proclamation declaring the week of May 17 through May 23, 2026, as National Public Works Week, and the council recognized Alfredo Cantero as public‑works director of the year. The town manager and council also congratulated communications manager Rod Gibson for completing a certified local government communicators program and announced the town received a communications excellence certificate from the Florida Municipal Communication Association.
These recognitions were ceremonial; no policy action was associated with them.
