Abby Craft, chief county assessment officer, told the LaSalle County Taxes, Elections & GIS Committee on May 19 that she has received a Widmer quote of just under $101,000 to redo the front office and counter, including seven new workstations, a new front counter and door, and a shared workspace. She said she plans to request the project in the 2027 budget.
Committee members asked whether the plans include protective partitions or pass‑throughs and whether walk‑space and ADA clearances were adequate. Craft said construction of flooring, walls, ceiling tiles and light fixtures is slated for September and that additional features (such as custom pass‑throughs or barriers) would require further requests and possibly separate bidding. Craft said the quoted work accounts for known equipment and that the office is scanning old records to reduce storage needs.
"Our quote has come out to just under a $101,000," Craft said, noting the proposal includes new workstations and front counter modifications. Committee members suggested she bring the plans to the property committee for detailed review and check ADA compliance before award or budgeting.
The committee moved to place the assessor's report on file and approved the bills by voice vote.
