Board approves first reads of two policies, updates child-nutrition signers and grants unpaid leave

Separately, the board approved a motion to revise the authorized signers for the Connecticut State Department of Education ED‑099 child nutrition agreement to add Oliver Barton, acting superintendent, and Stephanie Vitoris, coordinator of counting, to the district’s authorized signature list. Board members said the update was time‑sensitive to allow next‑round approvals to proceed.
The board also granted extended unpaid leave for Max Daniels for the remainder of the fiscal year; the motion was moved, seconded and approved with no discussion. Chair remarks noted correspondence received from the fire marshal regarding Windermere and a parent letter about special education were shared with appropriate staff for follow‑up.
The motions were procedural and passed by voice vote; the board did not take up additional policy debate during the meeting.
