Ambridge Area School District honors students and staff at May 20 meeting

At the May 20 meeting the Ambridge Area School District Board of School Directors recognized students and staff for academic, artistic and civic achievements.
The board congratulated Lily Carpenter on her appointment to the Naval Academy Preparatory School, noting the competitive nature of the program and its role preparing candidates for the U.S. Naval Academy. The board also honored the Ambridge Area High School production of Chicago (teen edition) for multiple Mancini Award nominations and singled out Ariana Avolio Mason as the winner for Best Supporting Actress.
Student council members from State Street Elementary, led by Ellie Duda, presented recent school activities and thanked the board and district administration. "We would like to thank you for inviting us here tonight," Ellie Duda said, listing winter and Valentine events, a Carnegie Science Center field trip for fifth grade, other school contests and an upcoming cap festival.
The district recognized winners of the Caring Place poster contest (Kat Bankowski and other finalists), students from the Beaver County Career and Technology Center, and several students who qualified to compete at the National Academic Games Tournament, including multiple elementary and middle school qualifiers and repeat national qualifiers such as Jada Palmer. The board also named students and staff of the month at each school and recognized staff who support programs across the district.
Board members and administrators praised student achievement and thanked staff and families for supporting student opportunities. The recognitions emphasized arts, academics and career-technical education as part of the district’s year-end celebration of accomplishments.
