Public Works staff told the council that the city experienced failures on its 12th Street municipal well in April and performed emergency repairs that will keep the well working for roughly six months to a year. Staff said parts availability and irrigation‑season timing prevented a full replacement at once and that the upcoming CIP may include further repairs or replacement.
The same staff member reported that the city received a C3 grant to purchase a new recycling baler with a value of $174,000; staff said the baler arrived and is installed and will restore the city’s ability to compress and move recyclable material efficiently.
Planning staff also updated the council on the Gingerbread daycare lease: engineering and new modular purchases mean the facility requires more space than the parcel initially approved. Staff proposed allowing the lease area to expand to approximately 2.34 acres; councilors were notified and asked to raise concerns if any.
Staff said the city will monitor the well‑repair line items and may propose a year‑end budget amendment if needed.
