The Ambridge Area School District Board of School Directors on May 20 approved a batch of routine agenda items, including a recommended dual-enrollment agreement with the University of Pittsburgh and a $16,114.25 repair to the State Street Elementary chiller.
Missus Kehoe, who presented the education and technology report, said the board was asked "to ratify a dual enrollment agreement between the Ambridge Area School District and the University of Pittsburgh" and to add a University of Pittsburgh AP biology dual-enrollment course to the 2026–27 course selection book pending agreement and solicitor review. The board adopted items 1 through 11 as presented by unanimous roll-call vote of members present.
On facilities, the board accepted a Facilities recommendation to approve the Hockenstein Mechanical quote to repair the State Street Elementary chiller at a total cost of $16,114.25, to be procured through state contract pricing. The motion carried by roll call.
Finance and budget actions included approving tax-exoneration requests for several parcels purchased by Saint Teresa of Calcutta Marionite Catholic Church Incorporated, conditioned on mutual municipal/county reciprocal exonerations for tax year 2025. The parcels listed in the presentation included tax parcel 130040143.000 (371 Linnmore Avenue, Baden), 130040130.000 (377 Lynnmore Avenue, Baden) and 130040134.000 (0 Lynnmore Avenue, Lots 5–8, Baden).
Personnel items approved included retirements (Kent Withrow, effective 06/05/2026; Deborah Stevens, effective 06/16/2026), the resignation of Samantha King (effective 06/05/2026), unpaid leave for employee #3260 (April 27–June 30), FMLA leave for employee #3188 beginning 06/08/2026 (up to 60 days), and a slate of coaching appointments and stipends (examples presented included Emily O'Malley, middle school cheer coach $1,650; Anthony DeRighe, middle school football coach $3,650; Cara Russo and Evie Janowski, marching band auxiliary $2,000 each; Zoe Elias, percussion tech $800; Jalen Campbell, volunteer percussion tech no remuneration). The board discussed how retired or vacated positions are posted under the district's teacher bid process; an administrator explained positions are posted after the close of the teachers' bid at the end of the school year and then advertised as needed.
The board also approved an overnight boys soccer item and other routine athletics and committee recommendations. All motions described above were moved, seconded and carried by roll-call votes recorded during the meeting.
The board meeting concluded after a public-comment period and routine adjournment.
