Kennewick council dissolves Block Grant Advisory Committee, moves duties to Planning Commission

The Kennewick City Council voted unanimously to adopt a docket of three ordinances that dissolve the Block Grant Advisory Committee and transfer its responsibilities for reviewing Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) applications to the Planning Commission.
Miss Moulay, who presented the staff report, told the council the committee meets infrequently and that the change is intended to create efficiencies, expand the applicant pool for advisory roles and streamline the preparation of the CDBG annual action plan that the council ultimately approves. Moulay said staff had discussed the proposal with the Planning Commission and would hold a workshop to explain the new duties if council adopts the ordinances.
Council member Milbauer moved to adopt the three ordinances as a single docket; Council member Anderson seconded. Following no substantive discussion, the clerk recorded a unanimous vote to adopt items 6A-1 through 6A-3 as presented.
