Piedmont council approves bills, reappoints healthcare board member and names city clerk

The Piedmont City Council approved bills totaling $475,923.93 and passed a set of routine administrative actions at its Dec. 16 meeting.
Greg South moved to reappoint Dr. Ben Ingram to the Piedmont Healthcare board; Frank Cobb seconded and the motion passed. Matt Rogers moved to appoint Tashia Blackerby as City Clerk; Carlos Farmer seconded and the appointment was approved.
During visitor comments, Corey Horton requested permission to purchase a truckload of power poles. Greg South moved to approve the purchase of power poles in the amount of $9,218.00; Carlos Farmer seconded and the motion passed.
Chief Nathan Johnson delivered the monthly police and abatement report, and Chief Todd Kirkland gave the monthly fire report. Piedmont Rescue and EMS Director Pat Brown said Piedmont Rescue was established in 1965 and thanked the council for its support; Councilman Frank Cobb thanked the department for its service. Mayor Farmer also delivered the monthly library report and made several administrative announcements including a Main Street Alabama meeting with local business owners and an adjusted holiday trash pickup schedule.
With no further business, the council adjourned at 6:37 p.m.
