Belleville council approves $2.4M in claims, payroll and multiple contracts including MFT awards

At its May 18 meeting, the Belleville City Council approved claims and disbursements of $2,408,870.21 and payroll totaling $1,042,281.32 following a roll call vote.
Council considered and approved multiple contracts and agreements during the same session. The council approved an agreement with TWM for geospatial services for $5,000 for fiscal year 2026–27. The council also approved a $30,000 agreement with Gonzales Companies LLC for survey plans, specifications, bid assistance and construction management for the Bicentennial Park Trail Extension.
Under the motor fuel tax (MFT) infrastructure program for 2026–27, the council awarded several projects to Hanks Escobanian Landscaping Inc. as the lowest responsible bidder, including an infrastructure contract for $721,338.85, a sidewalks program contract for $327,915, and a ditching program contract for $174,060; the motions were moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
Other administrative items approved included disposition of a 2013 Ford Expedition (VIN ending 66897) from the fire department and approval of a memorandum of understanding with Belleville Firefighters Local 53 regarding duty relief language.
The council also approved motor fuel claims of $23,390.11 later in the meeting and adjourned without entering executive session.
