Munhall council approves consultant contract, hires, grant application and housing actions in June meeting

At its June meeting, the Munhall Borough Council approved a slate of motions covering contracts, personnel and grant applications.

Council voted to sign a strategic management planning contract with H S G Hawk LLC for $63,900. The motion carried unanimously. The council also approved hiring three seasonal Department of Public Works employees (Reese Basinski, Corey Kuzai and Ryan Hyland) at $50 per hour, and hiring a borough mechanic at $35 per hour subject to the department’s pay step and the bargaining agreement. The council appointed Louisa Samborski as a small summer intern, to receive $1,000 through August 2026.

Council ratified a prior poll vote to terminate an employee identified in the record, and approved applying for a $500,000 flood-mitigation grant through the DCD to repair the roadside leading down Homestead Run and Creek Street. Separately, members authorized advertising bids to demolish three properties under Act 152 funding (1709 and 1713 Martha Street and 1214 Louise Street) and voted to adopt the Allegheny County housing mitigation plan.

The council also voted to notify Ed Miller of its intention to remove him from the Humboldt Planning Commission for failure to attend meetings.
