The Historic Landmarks Commission ratified several consent items during its May 20 meeting. Staff summarized the decisions: 735 Anacapa Street received project design approval and final approval with the necessary findings; 1635 State Street received project design approval and final approval with the necessary findings; and 401 East Pedragosa Street was continued indefinitely to consent for project design approval with six conditions and comments.
The commission asked the applicant for 401 East Pedragosa Street to return with drawings that clearly identify alterations, ensure window treatments are consistent with the property's style (no divided lights), clarify whether a low‑profile front deck is original, preserve the existing brick chimney where publicly visible, and noted the chimney removal was supportable where it is not publicly visible. The commission thanked the applicant for attending the hearing and providing materials.
The consent ratification was accomplished by roll call and the motions passed during the meeting.
