Lancaster County welcomes new grants coordinator, emphasizes transparency and cross-department work

Sara Hoyle, director of Lincoln-Lancaster County Human Services, introduced Lindsay Johnson to the Lancaster County Board of Commissioners on May 21 as the new Grants Coordinator.
Johnson said she views grants not only as administrative tasks but as tools to expand services, solve problems creatively and support the community. She described priorities including ensuring compliance, developing consistent grant processes, improving transparency around grant funding, and strengthening relationships across departments and with community partners. Johnson noted she has 16 years of experience in higher education, including five years in grants at Iowa Western Community College, and said she is returning to the area after moving from Council Bluffs to Omaha.
Commissioners welcomed Johnson and expressed appreciation for her background and stated priorities. The introduction was informational; no board action or vote was required.
