Lincoln County commissioners approve consent agenda, contracts and $20,000 in lodging-tax grants

The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a slate of routine items and contracts at its May 5, 2026 meeting, including payroll and vouchers and several contracts and funding allocations.
Commissioner Melvin Shumway moved to approve the consent agenda — which included minutes from the April 21 meeting, assessment-roll changes and vouchers — and the motion carried unanimously. The board also approved a letter to US Bank referencing a one-year facilities lease for the Justice Center for 2026–2027 after Commissioner Teri Bowers moved approval.
The commissioners approved two contracts with Pye-Barker Fire and Safety to support fire-suppression upgrades: up to $5,300 for the Etna Community Center and up to $4,300 for the Afton Senior Center. They also approved a contract with Lamar Advertising for up to $6,000 covering May 11 through Aug. 2, 2026.
The board voted to distribute $10,000 from the Lincoln County Lodging Tax Fund to Wyoming Welcomes the Wall that Heals in Afton and $10,000 to the Oyster Ridge Music Festival in Kemmerer, following the Lincoln County Travel and Tourism Committee’s recommendation.
Commissioner Shumway moved to authorize the Planning Director to fill an open planning position; that motion carried unanimously as well. The meeting record shows a detailed list of payroll and vendor vouchers approved as part of consent; county payroll for the period was listed as $592,618.91.
The board concluded these items without dissent; no public testimony was recorded on these motions. The commission adjourned the May 5 session at 11:46 a.m.
