Staff extends public comment period on CDBG consolidated plan, schedules student presentation

Robin Stenecky, who identified herself to the committee, gave an update on the city’s consolidated Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) plan and asked for feedback.
Stenecky said the public comment period listed in the packet (through June 8) has been extended to June 20 and that staff will schedule an additional workshop before the plan returns to the full council. “We actually extended that to June 20,” she said. She noted full chapters are posted online, physical copies are available at the library and City Hall, and comments can be submitted online, by phone or in person.
Stenecky described outreach efforts, including collaboration with the school district: high‑school students helped design and administer a community survey and will deliver a report to the committee. She also summarized that current packet recommendations emphasize affordable housing and residential rehabilitation programs and that staff are exploring Section 108 options to create a loan pool for developers and homeowners.
Committee members asked whether any CDBG money is currently proposed for infrastructure; Stenecky replied none is allocated in the current draft and that public‑works has not submitted any formal requests. The committee requested continued outreach and feedback before staff returns with final recommendations.
Stenecky said no action was requested at this meeting; staff sought feedback and public engagement before the final recommendation is prepared.
