Council member Elizabeth presented the communications committee's plan to distribute surveys to the administration and council to identify gaps in current communications practices, followed by a resident survey developed with administration support. She said the intent is to collect baseline evidence about time spent on communications tasks, pain points by department, and what tools staff and council use so recommendations (including possible staffing) are evidence‑based.
The administration and council surveys will be distributed first and results should arrive in early June; the committee plans to review administration and council feedback in its June meeting along with initial resident responses and then form recommendations. Elizabeth said the data could support a hiring recommendation by giving practical onboarding guidance to a potential new communications hire.
Council supported the approach and staff indicated they would help distribute the resident survey if needed. No budget or specific vendor was discussed during the presentation.
