Pine Ridge students showcase 'Ranger Pride' art project at board meeting

At the start of its May 18 meeting, the Forest Hills Board of Education heard an instructional highlight from Pine Ridge Elementary.
Principal Nathan Phelps introduced fourth‑grade students who displayed designs from the annual Ranger Pride ticket project, which fourth graders redesign each year to recognize students who demonstrate the district's PBIS expectations (persistent, respectful, dependable, inclusive). Art teacher Sarah Sorrell described how sketchbooks are used from junior kindergarten through fourth grade as a consistent personal space for creativity, practice and reflection.
Several students explained why they enjoy designing the tickets and how sketchbooks let them track artistic growth over the year. Board members and attendees applauded the students' work.
