Hancock County Board unanimously approves Connable Road appropriation, material bids and several department appointments

The Hancock County Board on April 21 unanimously approved a package of routine motions including a resolution to appropriate funds for the south-end portion of Connable Road, bids for road materials and culverts, and multiple appointments to local fire protection districts.
Chairman Mark Menn said the county had "made the cut" for a grant connected to Connable Road; later in the meeting the board approved, by roll call vote, a resolution under the Illinois Highway Code to appropriate funds for the south-end portion of the roadway. The motion to approve the resolution was made by Wayne Bollin and seconded by Joe Boyles; all members present voted aye.
The board approved WL Miller's bid for bituminous materials for county and township projects (moved by Alex Blythe, seconded by Steve Lucie) and accepted a bid for metal culverts for township culverts (moved by Harry Douglas, seconded by Mark Harrison). Both procurement motions passed on unanimous roll-call votes.
Consent and claims: The board accepted the consent agenda and the consent action agenda; consent items included a resolution for Tax Deed 15-10-954-000 and a Certificate of Authority enabling the county engineer to purchase road salt, a new requirement from management services. Michelle Merritt moved to accept the consent agenda; Joe Boyles and Wayne Bollin also moved related consent motions; all passed unanimously. Claims presented were approved on a roll-call vote after a motion by Michelle Merritt and a second from Steve Lucie.
Appointments: Joe Boyles moved and Stephen Finney seconded approval of several appointments to local fire protection districts: William Shanks to Nauvoo Fire Protection District; George Salrin to Dallas Rural FPD; Steve Haney to Blandinsville-Hire FPD; Tony Koehler to the Warsaw Rural Fire Department; and Keith Bruns and Tammy Dighton to the West Point Fire Department. The board recorded all present voting aye.
Other motions approved during the meeting included placement of a bronze Abraham Lincoln statue in the courthouse rotunda and authorization for Chairman Menn to sign the artist's contract if the artist would not sign the county's contract; both motions were approved unanimously.
The meeting recessed and adjourned at 7:25 p.m. following the business recorded in the minutes.
