DAR chapter outlines WWI monument restoration, plans Sept. 20 rededication

Karen Langley, representing the Jacques Laramie chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, updated the Albany County Board of County Commissioners on the restoration of the county’s World War I monument.
“Most of that is going totally for the restoration,” Langley said, saying the chapter received $16,300 in state grant funds and that work is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 26 and finish by Friday, May 29, weather permitting. Langley named Joy Carlson of Pacific Coast Conservation as the contractor point of contact and said the conservation firm will coordinate with county maintenance and Anthony when crews arrive.
Langley asked the commissioners to reserve Sunday, Sept. 20 at 1:30 p.m. for a rededication ceremony to mark the birthday of Edward Ivinson, who she said played a role in funding the monument. She outlined a short program at the Alice Hardy Stevens Center featuring a presentation on the monument’s history and remembrances of four individuals from gold star families.
Commissioners did not object to the request and thanked Langley for the update. Langley said the chapter will distribute invitations and printed bookmarks in the coming weeks.
The commissioners took no formal action beyond accepting the report during the public comment period.
