Poweshiek County supervisors approve agenda, utility permits and large claims list

The Poweshiek County Board of Supervisors approved routine business and a large vendor claims docket at its May 14, 2026 meeting in Montezuma.
Chairman Jason Roudabush called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Supervisors Jacki Bolen and Jeff Tindle moved and seconded approval of the agenda and the May 11, 2026 minutes; both motions passed on 3–0 votes. The board also approved two utility permits: #26-26U to MidAmerican Energy for work in Section 24, Sugar Creek Township, and #26-27U to Poweshiek Water Association for work in Section 18, Jackson Township.
The board then approved a multi-page claims list. The docket shown to the board includes payments to numerous vendors and service providers. Among the largest individual items listed were Martin Marietta Materials ($272,192.76), Shive‑Hattery ($104,850.00), Eagleview ($41,391.00), Victor Oil ($34,462.36), Manatts Inc ($25,172.19) and other routine operating and service expenses. The motion to approve the claims carried on a 3–0 vote.
Each of the motions recorded in the meeting was moved and seconded by members of the three‑member board and reflected unanimous recorded approval. No public comment or discussion on the claims or the permits is recorded in the transcript.
The meeting continued with departmental reports and informational presentations before adjourning at 10:25 a.m.
