Communications staff told the commission the county will launch an employee wellness program on June 1 that provides access to GLP‑1 weight‑loss medications at a discounted rate and health counseling, with no cost to the county under the vendor arrangement.
“ So we are super excited to announce that we're gonna be rolling out a wellness program beginning June 1 for county employees,” the communications presenter said, adding the county’s third‑party administrator, 90 Degree Benefits, is partnering with New Edge Health to provide the services. The presenter emphasized the program is voluntary and that employees must pay any participation cost; the county said it will not carry the cost directly.
Staff also promoted the farmers market at Ozark Park (891 North Riverside Road) and a free public health clinic staffed by MU medical students offering blood‑pressure checks and primary‑care preventive information from 3–7 p.m. Commissioners asked staff to update the county website and staff noted the library-board application deadline conversation would require a separate action if the commission chose to extend it.
Because the communications items were informational, commissioners did not take a formal vote on the wellness program announcement; staff said they will distribute flyers and notify employees next week.
