Stop the Sewage club wins Coronado High’s Club of the Year for third straight year

The Coronado Unified School District board recognized Coronado High School’s Stop the Sewage Club as the CHS Club of the Year for a third consecutive year. Superintendent Mueller introduced the students, and student representative Mr. Wilbur and other club leaders described the club’s accomplishments, including more than 80 student members, multiple trips to Sacramento, engagement with the California Coastal Commission and two recognitions from the San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
Laura Wilkinson Sinton, identified in the meeting as the club mentor, thanked the board for its support and praised the students’ civic engagement and public advocacy. Student leaders named incoming club officers for the next school year and said they plan to continue lobbying on local and state coastal issues.
Trustees and the superintendent congratulated the students on their sustained civic work and presentation; Superintendent Mueller highlighted that the club’s work aligns with the state’s increasing emphasis on civic engagement and the state seal of civic engagement.
