The Coronado Unified School District Board honored outgoing student board representative Hysam Cooley and welcomed the 2026–27 student representative, Inez Gill. Cooley reviewed end-of-year activity across district schools — citing yearbook signings, volunteer appreciation assemblies, promotion ceremonies, multiple valedictorians and athletic successes — and thanked volunteers and staff members, including Karen Molina.
Trustees offered individual remarks praising Cooley's enthusiasm and contributions. One trustee said Cooley “elevated the level of student board representative position” through his engagement; another noted the position’s importance to student voice across campuses. Cooley then introduced Inez Gill, who told the board she was “very excited to work with all of you” and hoped to bring new insight to meetings next year.
The recognition was presented before the board moved on to other agenda business. The board also presented a small parting gift and encouraged Cooley to stay in touch as he departs the student representative role.
