A member of the public, Dave Williams (1249 High Street), urged council to consider acquiring a 4-acre parcel that was scheduled for public auction and said the high bid was roughly $20,001 as of his remarks. He suggested small improvements to the village entrance and offered volunteer help; council discussed right-of-way ownership questions and potential village ownership of some of the adjacent strips.
Council member discussion turned to strategy and the mayor said the matter could be discussed in executive session. A motion to enter executive session to discuss purchase of real estate was made, seconded and approved by roll call. The mayor stated publicly there would be no action coming out of the executive session.
Council did not announce a bid amount or any specific purchase terms in open session. The motion to enter executive session carried with roll-call 'Aye' votes; members indicated they would not take public action immediately following the closed discussion.
