Airport installs Wi‑Fi, begins Wings and Wheels planning and eyes Red Bird flight simulator

The Daviess County Airport has begun installing Wi‑Fi across airport facilities, Airport Manager Erica Burkemper told the board April 9. The work is being done by New Vision; Burkemper said she will calculate costs for tenants who requested Wi‑Fi and add those expenses to hangar invoices.
Burkemper also said planning has begun for the airport’s second annual Wings and Wheels fly‑in and car show. She will start promoting the event and secure food vendors.
Commissioners discussed purchasing and installing a flight simulator in the airport training room. The board asked Burkemper to research a Red Bird training set‑up and report back with costs and feasibility.
In separate business, the board approved a change to the October meeting date. Commissioner Bob Wake moved to move the October meeting to the third Thursday (October 15); Matt Merold seconded and the motion passed (vote counts not specified). The meeting adjourned at 11:15 a.m.; the next regular meeting is May 14 at 10:00 a.m.
