Mayor Judy Paul said the town of Davie welcomed a traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall from Washington, D.C., allowing residents, students and visitors to connect with the monument.
"There's always something meaningful happening in our community," Mayor Judy Paul said as she introduced the commemoration and described the town's participation.
Paul said the Davie Police and Fire Rescue Department escorted the wall through Davie, following a route that passed several schools, town hall and the police and fire rescue public safety complex before arriving at the rodeo grounds. The display was open to the public 24 hours a day and free to visit; Paul said it "welcomed hundreds of visitors" who could walk alongside the wall, find or etch a loved one's name and reflect.
Paul described the visit as "a deeply emotional experience" for many and framed the commemoration as an opportunity to honor "the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who served in the Vietnam War." She tied the event to ongoing local veterans efforts, listing monthly veterans breakfasts, an annual veterans voucher program, the Purple Heart Trail and other veterans events.
The mayor also reminded residents that the town's parks, recreation and cultural arts department will host the annual Memorial Day parade and ceremony on 05/25/2026, beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Orange Drive and culminating at the rodeo grounds.
Paul closed by thanking residents, offering mayoral assistance as needed, and extending a blessing to the town of Davie.
