Commissioners approve enterprise fund adjustments and reserve $288,230 for new voting system

Worcester County commissioners approved routine adjustments to several enterprise funds and added a reserve for an estimated $288,229.50 voting‑system purchase during the budget work session.

Budget presenter (speaker 4) summarized enterprise fund changes: the solid waste fund showed a requested $17,276 deficit to be covered by fund balance and the water/wastewater funds totaled about $28.1 million in revenues and expenses, with requested general‑fund support of $850,136 to offset deficits in specific service areas (Bedell Town, Landings and River Run). The White Horse Park lot rate was updated to reflect a 5% increase from $160 to $168 per lot.

On the voting system the Director of Elections, Jocelyn (speaker 12), said the state procurement process is not finalized and counties are awaiting confirmation of timing. Commissioners voted to set aside the $288,229.50 estimate in the FY27 draft budget so the funds will be available if invoices fall in FY27; staff said unspent funds would revert to the general fund if the purchase is delayed into FY28.

Chair (speaker 1) called the motions to approve the enterprise summaries and the voting‑system reserve; the motions carried on voice votes.

Budget staff noted the voting system estimate was newly provided by elections staff and that counties may choose to budget the amount proactively while procurement completes at the state level.
