The commission discussed practical details and impacts. A member asked about visibility from the street and staff said the enclosure will be visible from the alley and parts of a drive-through lane but largely obscured from the main avenue by adjacent buildings. Commissioners also raised parking and safety: Lineberry said CBD zoning does not require additional parking and that a lot behind the building provides spaces; the commission confirmed the new corridor would be 6 feet wide. Members noted the change could improve safety by reducing direct exterior access to rooms in an area where there are homeless encampments and wandering individuals.
After the discussion a committee member moved to "approve as presented by staff," Lineberry seconded, and the chair called the question. The chair recorded an "Aye" and declared the motion passed by voice vote.
The project approval was the primary action on the regular agenda. Lineberry also announced the planning department is hiring and expects a new planner to start June 1. The commission set its next regular meeting for Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 10 a.m. in the East Mezzanine of City Hall at 72 West College.
