Green County auditing committee approves bills, plans policy outreach and holds closed session

GREEN COUNTY — The Green County Auditing, Bonding & Claims Committee met Feb. 17 in the Finance Conference Room at the Green County Courthouse and approved the minutes from Jan. 15, 2026, and the bills presented for payment.
Melissa Even moved to approve the Jan. 15 minutes; the motion was seconded by Chair Pet Sheaffer and recorded in the transcript as "Motion carried." Later, Even moved to approve payment of the bills, a motion seconded by Isaiah Carlson and likewise recorded as "Motion carried." The transcript does not include roll-call tallies.
The committee recorded no departmental requests for the meeting but discussed sending a policy to department heads and oversight committees and agreed to invite Hailey Laws, Ari Voegeli and Nic Owen to participate in follow-up briefings or discussions about that policy. Chair Pet Sheaffer introduced that item during the meeting.
Chair Sheaffer read a statement of purpose for a closed session that cited the statutory basis in part: "Considering financial, medical, social or personal histories or disciplinary data of specific persons, preliminary consideration of specific personnel problems or the investigation of charges against specific persons ... Audit client specific bills for payment pursuant to Sec. 19.85(1)(f), Wis. Stats." Isaiah Carlson moved to go into closed session; Melissa Even seconded, and the motion was recorded as "Motion carried." The committee subsequently moved to reconvene in open session, again on a motion by Carlson seconded by Even, and then adjourned.
The committee set its next meeting for Monday, March 16, 2026, at 7:30 a.m. in the Finance Conference Room at the Green County Courthouse.
