Anthony Palermo, assistant director of the Planning Division in the City of Fort Myers Community Development Department, told the Planning Board that the City is initiating both a Future Land Use Map amendment and a rezoning for 32.06 acres located at 13100 Treeline Avenue to the Recreation (REC) designation.
Palermo said the parcel was donated to the City by the Arborwood Community Development District, that City Council accepted the donation on June 16, 2025 by Resolution Number 2025-66, and that the property was annexed into the City by Ordinance Number 4057 on August 18, 2025. He said the property is undeveloped, includes a lake and conservation lands, and is part of a conservation easement with the Southwest Florida Water Management District; the City’s intent is to develop a passive park. Staff reviewed the request and found it consistent with the Comprehensive Plan; Engineering and Fire Marshall offered no objections.
The Planning Board voted unanimously, 6-0, to recommend that City Council approve the Future Land Use Map amendment and the rezoning to Recreation (REC). The FLUM recommendation was moved by Charles Cook and seconded by Marc Collins. The rezoning recommendation was moved by Michael Carlino and seconded by Marc Collins. No public input was recorded. The board’s recommendations will be forwarded to City Council for final action.
