Board OKs $440,000 reimbursement agreement with California High-Speed Rail Authority

The Madera County Board approved a cooperative agreement (state agreement HSR25-86) with the California High-Speed Rail Authority that authorizes Madera County Public Works to be reimbursed up to $440,000 for administrative and document review services related to the next phase of the high-speed rail project through Feb. 29, 2028.
Dominic Tyburski, public works director, said the county’s earlier 2012 approach delegated design and construction to the Authority while the county retained review and oversight responsibilities; the reimbursement agreement is intended to ensure the county is compensated for oversight costs rather than subsidizing the state project. Board members thanked staff for coordinating on overpass openings and maintenance agreements and approved the agreement by roll call 4–0.
Next steps: public works will continue coordination with the Authority and seek reimbursement for oversight costs as work proceeds.
