Sherry Weideman, presenting the final budget and tax rate hearing under NRS 354.598, outlined changes from the tentative budget including a county transfer of $300,000 that the board allocated $175,000 to the general fund and $125,000 to parks and recreation. She said staff added a job‑study line totaling $1,346,381 in budgeted expenses and included about $12,130 for compensated‑absence liabilities allocated across funds.
“We had requested that CCComm give us the additional $300,000 to transfer,” Weideman said while summarizing the adjustments and asking the board to sign the final document for submission to the Department of Taxation.
Weideman reported that the county’s overall tax rate remains at its maximum, 2.863; she noted an estimated City of Fallon rate of 3.66 for comparison and that tax estimates were shown for an assessed value of $100,000.
Commissioner Blakey moved to approve the final budget and tax rate and to direct the comptroller to file the signed budget with the Department of Taxation; Commissioner Hyde seconded. The motion passed by voice vote.
The board will receive a bound, signed copy of the final budget for public records and Weideman said she will submit the required documents to taxation per statute as the next procedural step.
