Curtain Creek Community Park opens; county honors neighborhood volunteers and staff

Council Chair Sue Marshall announced that Curtain Creek Community Park in Brush Prairie has opened. She said park amenities include a large community play area with public art, picnic shelters, trails with views of the Gaddis Wetlands and Mount Hood, four lighted pickleball courts, a basketball court and the county’s first lighted multi-sport field. Marshall invited residents to the grand opening celebration set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 6.
Marshall also recognized neighborhood engagement and staff contributions. She said the Neighborhood Association Council (NAC) presented employee awards for 2024 and 2025: Hunter Decker, the county forester, received the 2024 award for community-minded service; Eric Lambert, Clean Water Outreach Services Manager, received the 2025 award for leading the Salmon Creek mural project that involved over 50 artists. Marshall also noted that Vanessa Gaston, the county’s community services director, received the Vancouver NAACP's Fannie Lou Hamer award for community empowerment.
Marshall encouraged residents to learn more about parks and community programs on the county website and thanked neighbors and volunteers for their service.
