Natrona County approves letters of support, sets budget hearing schedule and pre-authorizes temporary election staffing

At the March 3, 2026 meeting the Natrona County Board of Commissioners approved multiple administrative actions: letters of support for a new police operations building in the Town of Evansville and for the City of Casper's U.S. Economic Development Administration FY25 Disaster Supplemental application to rehabilitate the North Platte Sanitary Sewer Interceptor; the commission also approved a proposed budget hearings schedule and pre-approved hiring a temporary staff member for the upcoming election.
Commissioner Casey Coates moved to approve a letter of support for development of a new police operations building and the related federal funding request for the Town of Evansville; Commissioner Dave North seconded and the motion carried. Coates also moved to approve a letter of support for the City of Casper's EDA FY25 Disaster Supplemental funding application to rehabilitate the North Platte Sanitary Sewer Interceptor; Commissioner North seconded and the motion carried.
County Clerk Tracy Good requested pre-approval to hire a temporary staff member for the mid-June through November election period. Clerk Good said the first invoice will arrive before the new budget is adopted and is expected to add approximately $28,000 to the election budget; the commission approved the request. The commission also approved the consent agenda and voted to enter an executive session for personnel and legal advice during the meeting.
The actions approved on March 3 are administrative and supportive in nature; funding decisions by external agencies (for example, EDA awards) remain subject to those agencies’ review and grants processes.
