Matt Jones, Superintendent of Buildings & Grounds, briefed the Government Operations Committee on May 19 about ongoing maintenance and capital'related activity across county properties.
Jones said the Lauderdale cabin roof is complete and that state funding has helped park improvements in recent years. He reported work at Huletts, noting recent renovations and steps to make parks more accessible; Buildings & Grounds is coordinating a three'week swim program this summer with Whitehall School and is recruiting lifeguards for the season.
On the Fort Ann barn project, Jones said roof repairs are scheduled pending weather. A contractor originally slated to handle hazard abatement at the old county highway barn backed out because the project was too small for them; county staff are seeking another company to perform the abatement. Landscaping work is underway across the site and materials for a water pressure pump installation have been approved and will be scheduled in the coming weeks. Jones noted Greenwood is performing roof repairs that Gallo is paying for.
He added Buildings & Grounds is catching up on several small deferred projects, removing old bushes around the Municipal Center, and conducting roof inspections.
