Sheriffs office reports rises in calls for service and DUI arrests, and rollout of new records system

A representative of the Liberty County Sheriff's Office presented the quarters statistics and operational updates.
The sheriff's presenter said calls for service for the reporting quarter totaled about 14,046, a roughly 25% increase over the comparable period, and described a newly active traffic unit and higher DUI enforcement: "Our DUIs are actually up by 49%," the presenter said, noting 2,076 arrests in the reported period. Deputies have increased targeted patrols, business checks and other proactive activity to address hot spots.
The office also announced rollout of a Tyler Technologies records-management system (phase 1) with the next phase for the jail scheduled in August. The presenter said the new platform links citation and court systems, allows deputies to self-dispatch and is expected to reduce redundant data entry and processing time in the jail.
Commissioners asked for trend breakdowns and underlying drivers; the sheriffs office said a crime-intelligence analyst can produce more-detailed trend analyses and demographic breakdowns on request.
No vote or formal action was taken on the report; commissioners accepted the quarterly update and thanked the sheriffs staff for the operational improvements.
