Residents call Argo CHSD 217 gravel parking lots "an embarrassment" at board meeting

At the Argo Community High School District 217 board meeting on April 15, community resident Mr. Pavel told the board the district’s gravel parking lots are in poor condition, showed photos and called them "an embarrassment to the school community." Mr. Pavel asked whether the district is planning long-term or short-term fixes and suggested a parking garage as a possibility.
Mr. Gary Nothnagel, a district staff member listed among administrators in attendance, responded that he agreed the gravel lots need work and said they "need to be regraded, rolled, and put in a binder to hold them in place." Another resident, Mr. Quinlan, raised concerns about student parking availability, saying many spaces "seem to sit empty." Board Secretary Luz Raymond added that her daughter has a space but rarely uses it.
The board did not take immediate action on repairs during the meeting; members heard the public comments during the audience portion and continued with the agenda.
