Hardin County Fiscal Court approves road closing, settlements and personnel resolutions

The Hardin County Fiscal Court on April 27 approved multiple resolutions and consent-agenda items, including a settlement and a road closing in Cecilia.
Squire Chris Yates moved to approve Resolution No. 2026-072, a BOSK settlement; the motion was seconded by Squire EG Thompson and carried on a recorded unanimous vote. The court also approved Resolution No. 2026-059 to close N. Mill Street and a 495-foot portion of Federal Street from Robinson Street to the Cecilia Ruritan/Post Office in Cecilia. Hardin County Attorney Jenny Oldham told the court the road-closing request had been advertised in the newspaper under KRS 178.050.
The magistrates approved Resolution No. 2026-060 setting elected officials’ salaries for the coming four-year term. During discussion Squire Fred Clem, Jr. said magistrates had a salary freeze since 2015 and that the freeze had saved the county "over $300,000." The motion passed with recorded 'yes' votes across the bench.
The court conducted first reading of Ordinance No. 344-4 Series 2025 related to a FY2025–2026 budget amendment and recorded a motion that carried. The consent agenda — which included the Treasurer's financial report for March 2026, April claims and ACH claims, March payroll registers, Resolution 2026-061 (financial transfers), personnel resolutions for EMS (2026-063) and Road Department (2026-064), the Pay Grade Classification Plan (Resolution 2026-070) and a grant agreement with Best Friends Animal Society (Resolution 2026-073) — was presented and handled through the consent process. One consent item (Resolution 2026-068, co-op/intern job description) was removed for separate consideration and sent to committee after discussion.
