The proclamation text, as read to the board, emphasized the need for professional help, better teacher awareness and broader public understanding. After the presentation and remarks from guests and alumni, the board moved to approve the proclamation; the chair called the vote and the motion carried.
The presentation included a short video and alumni remarks; families and guests were invited to the dais for photographs. District officials said the Tourette Association of America provides resources for families and educators and urged continued outreach and teacher training to support students with tic disorders.
The board recorded the proclamation approval as part of miscellaneous action items during the meeting.
