Land Bank approves 10 parcels for housing projects, authorizes duplex and single-family builds

The Land Bank Board of Trustees approved two land-bank applications May 21 that will release 10 parcels for residential development by Urban Haven LLC, producing an estimated 19 housing units after the applicant adjusted one project to include a single-family home.
Redevelopment coordinator Michael Sutton summarized the applications and told the board the developer reduced one project after neighborhood discussion. Commissioners debated neighborhood opposition but stressed a broader need for housing. Commissioner Davis said increasing rooftops is necessary to attract amenities and retail to historically disinvested areas, and he voiced support for the approvals.
The board voted 7–0 to approve item 13.1 (as adjusted) and then 7–0 to approve item 13.2, allowing the developer to proceed with the proposed duplex and single-family construction under Land Bank terms. Sutton said free soil testing resources are available through the county extension.
The approvals authorize staff to execute the land-bank transfers under the usual conditions; no additional funding or incentives were approved as part of these votes.
