Roads and emergency-operations center: county reports progress on chip seal, 286/Scott Hollow intersection and EOC construction

Tom Anderson, Faulkner County’s road administrator, told the Quorum Court that crews have completed about 6.5 miles of road work since the last report and that chip-seal operations will begin once a remaining dig-out is finished. Work at the 286/Scott Hollow intersection started in earnest and the contractor expects road work to be complete before the fall school semester; traffic controls and a turn lane will be in place while the stoplight hardware is on a 26-week lead time.
Anderson said Rogers Group has been temporarily removed from active tasks and will return later in summer or fall to finish scheduled projects. He also reported approximately $890,000 in ARP spending since the last report and described progress on the combined road-shop and Emergency Operations Center: foundations and a concrete slab for offices are in place and the first steel delivery arrived this month. The project remains on track for the first portion’s completion in early February of next year.
Justices thanked road crews for storm response work and Anderson cautioned the court to monitor crews’ work-rest cycles to avoid unsafe fatigue. No vote or formal action was taken; the report was received for information.
